Planning has just begun for next year’s Ageing Well Festival.
The Ageing Well Festival is an annual celebration, marking International Day of Older Persons (1st October), celebrating ageing and promoting the concept of growing older in Torbay. The 2019 festival will be the fifth Ageing Well Festival.
At the moment, chances are the 2019 festival will be taking place in Torquay, during October on a Saturday.
Would you like to help out with next year’s festival?
We are currently hoping to expand our planning committee. If you fit the following requirements, please get in touch with Jess Slade, Participation Officer on 01803 212638, or email email@example.com to let us know you’re interested.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an individual (aged 50 or over) to become part of our local larger team of active, engaged people in later life who have an interest in festival/ event management and who are also passionate about the Ageing Well’s outcomes (to reduce social isolation and loneliness and to increase community participation and engagement with people aged 50 +). We are looking for a volunteer who can offer around 6 hours per month, which will include attending meetings (2-3 hours) every 3-4 weeks. Individuals may be asked to visit/ research/ try out an activity/ talk to other community members about ideas and report back to the rest of the committee. You will be supported by other committee members.
What can we offer you?
This is a great opportunity to develop new skills, utilise your existing knowledge and experience, meet new people and help to promote all the projects run in our local community for the benefit of people in later life. Training and support is on tap within our Program Office to up-skill and empower you to succeed in this role.
For other ways to get involved, i.e. volunteering on the day, having a stall, running a workshop, please get in touch with us next Spring/Summer, as it’s currently too early to consider at this moment in time.
