The second annual Ageing Well Festival was held at Torre Abbey this weekend, drawing in a large number of attendees to the day’s events. A lot of people gathered to find out more about Ageing Well Torbay and what it could do for them, but they also gathered to meet new friends, have some fun, and do something different. From taking part in the dance classes such as the flash-mob rehearsals and the Bollywood dancing, to offering their opinions during the Questions of our Time debate, and even sitting down to talk to someone new, the day’s activities were a hit. The festival at Torre Abbey ended as a resounding success.
The following day, we had thirteen Big Lunches across Torbay, at locations such as the Ellacombe Conservative Club in Torquay, which featured vocalist Sandy Sparkle, St Peter’s Church in Paignton, whose lunch received help from the 14th Torbay Scouts, the High Tea at Lupton House in Brixham, and many, many more. It was great to see so many people across Torbay getting together to gather and enjoy each other’s company (and some delicious food!)
Thanks to everyone who attended the festival at Torre Abbey, and thanks to everyone who attended any of the Big Lunches, and a HUGE thank you to the members of the festival steering group for your huge contributions to the event, to the volunteers who gave their time and dedication to us at the weekend (as stewards, photographers, mini-bus drivers, and many more roles!) and to everyone else who helped with the festival and lunches, we couldn’t have done it without you.
